</div><p>This is a time of the year when I really kick into high gear with my fitness regimen and training.  Because of that, I know that my <strong>rest recuperation</strong> needs to be increased as well.  If you&#8217;ve ever suffered from severe fatigue or a strained muscle, chances are you&#8217;re just not giving your body time to recuperate.  I know because there was a time when I was experiencing a lot of fatigue and muscle soreness and it caused me to become concerned about my <strong>health and wellness</strong>.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">It&#8217;s common knowledge that when it comes to <strong>fitness and exercise</strong>, less can be more.  The more <strong>rest and recuperation</strong> you give your body, the more time your muscles have to heal and grow.  As common as this knowledge is, it&#8217;s so often forgotten.  It wasn&#8217;t until I started taking some time to really recuperate that I started getting the best out of my workouts and martial arts training.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I started to do things like take a bath once a week instead of a shower all the time.  Go for a massage.  Sometimes I&#8217;ll even take days off from my workout regimen and do &#8220;active rest&#8221;.  Active rest meaning going for a walk, Tai Chi or Chi Gong.</p>

<p><strong>Rest recuperation</strong> is just as important as exercise and activity.  Neglecting your rest will almost certainly lead to injury and fatigue in the long run.  Every time I&#8217;ve been injured in the past, it was almost always due to not letting my self recuperate.  Remember this information before you&#8217;re straddled over 4 pillows from a pulled muscle like I was last September.  But that&#8217;s a whole other conversation.</p>

<p>I don&#8217;t know what it is about Spring time, but it always seems to add a jolt to the mind and body.  I remember when I was younger, as soon as Spring time came we all wanted to go outside and play.  The energy of everything is a projection of renewal.  Here are 3 steps that I like to take every Spring to <strong>cleanse</strong> and <strong>detox</strong> my mind and body to get ready for the new season.</p>

<p>1.  Increase your consumption of <strong>fresh organic foods</strong>.  With the change of season comes the ripening of a lot of delicious fruits and vegetables.  This isn&#8217;t the time for comfort food anymore.  The weather&#8217;s changing and it&#8217;ll be bathing suit time before you know it.  Incorporating <strong>raw foods</strong> into your diet will give you clear skin, more energy and it&#8217;s a great way to start a <strong>detox</strong>.  If you have the means, joining a food co-op can give you all the f<strong>resh organic fruits and veggies</strong> by the week.</p>

<p>2.  Change your <strong>Exercise</strong> variety.  The days are getting longer and warmer.  Now&#8217;s the time to give the treadmill and elliptical a (little) rest and hit the track or the park.  Hit the backyard and do some calisthenics.  the fresh air can make an amazing difference in your stamina.</p>

<p>3.  Drink more water and stay hydrated.  This is something that should be done all year around but it&#8217;s Very important for this time of year.  When the weather gets warmer, you dehydrate faster.  Carrying around a bottle of water can ensure that you stay hydrated.  If you can help it, stick to the more purer kinds of water on the market.  Many believe that water is water is water and that may very well be the case.  Try to open yourself up to different kinds of water (purified, tap, Kangen, spring) and be the judge for yourself.</p>
