Meet Rahim

rahim1Hi Everyone my name is Rahim.  I started this wellness blog because I’m an enthusiast on wellness, health, and well-being.  I love the feeling of feeling good.  I love the feeling I get when I work out, eat the right things and I see and feel a direct result of my actions.  To be honest I wasn’t always this way.

Even though I was a vegetarian at a fairly young age, I went through a phase in my teens and early twenties when I wasn’t concerned at all with an overall wellness lifestyle.  I wasn’t active, and I didn’t have the nutritious diet you would think a vegetarian is supposed to have.  I didn’t have it and I didn’t know how to go about achieving it.  In my mind, I felt like because I didn’t eat meat, I was impervious to anything that would be of danger to my immune system.  The funny thing about it was that, I was getting sick all of the time and I didn’t know why.  I started taking vitamins, minerals, herbs and occasionally eating the way I was supposed to, but I was missing the one thing that is the key to any successful regimen: CONSISTENCY.

Once I got into my early 20’s I started to hear this re-occuring word on television and in casual conversation.  The word was Wellness or Wellness Lifestyle.  When I first heard it, I just passed it off as some kind of new age concept about eating bad tasting food that was good for you and keeping my head in the “cosmos” all day long.  I later found out that Wellness or a Wellness Lifestyle is not any one particular thing.  It involves a series of different activities.  Jogging, running, walking, eating right, meditation, martial arts, nutrition, financial awareness and countless other methods of wellbeing are ALL a part of living a wellness lifestyle.  You don’t have to be involved in every single physical, mental or spiritual activity to achieve wellness.  You just have to try different things and find out what works for you.

Once I came to the realization of what wellness was, I began to do just that.  I tried different things to see what worked for me.  I mentioned a very key word before.  The key word is CONSISTENCY.  Nothing works without it.  Consistency with my workout regimen, consistency with my diet and consistency with my financial awareness is the reason why I’m A LOT better off than I was before.  More importantly, my consistency in continuous learning is what’s going to keep me on an upward track of always finding new and interesting ways of maintaining my wellness.

Rahim, this is a great blog and i really like the perspective you bring as far as exercise is concerned. I did catch a couple of articles about the “organic” craze. to me, if you feed your plants the right things, then the cycle is full of life, but if you feed your plants pesticides and are not kind to what you put into your body then there begins that cycle of negative energy to which you contribute. again, great stuff.

peacefully,
aisha

Hi Rahim,

Love your blog! I had a similar situation but I found out I had high blood pressure in my mid 20’s. After I found out this information, I was on a mission to loose the weight and live a healthy lifestyle. I have lost over 80 pounds and have kept it off for over 8 years now. So I’m living proof that it can be done!

Hi Rahim!
Thank you for the kind and encouraging words regarding my weight-loss journey as one of the 10 national contestants for the 2010 Seattle Sutton Slim-Down Challenge.
It’s been a very interesting and educational experience, most certainly. It’s true that 1,200 calories a day doesn’t seem like much. But…it does result in definite weight-loss on this program.
Meanwhile, I’ve been enjoying your blog. What a great job presenting a super selection of useful into in a very nice conversational style. Thank you again, and nice meeting you!
