New Year’s Food For Thought

January 1, 2010

So we’ve come to the end of another year. What was it like for you? What were your highs? Lows? Mediums? Did you accomplish everything you wanted to accomplish?

The good news is that we’ve made it through another year of the predictable, unpredictable, trap filled, loving, hateful, seductive, deceptive, bitter-sweet beast that we call LIFE.  We’ve lost some, gained some, lost more, gained a little bit back and we’re still standing.  That’s got to mean something right?

It’s so easy to dwell on the negative, especially when it comes to this time of year in the climate that we’re living in now.  So easy in fact that it becomes That much harder to focus on the positive.

Do you have your health?  Are your loved ones healthy?  Do you have a roof over your head?  Where are your loved ones sleeping tonight?

Many resolutions are going to be made in the following days to come and that’s great.  I hope everyone sticks with them.  But may I offer a suggestion?  If you’re going to make a resolution, make one to be thankful, each and everyday,  for all of the positive things that are in your life right now.  Be thankful for the little things that SO many people take for granted like walking, talking, seeing, tasting and smelling.  Be thankful for your experiences as a human being on this planet and all of the wonderful things it has to offer.

I’m not going to turn this into a kumbaya blog post.  I just want you to realize that in a world that’s full of so much bad, there is still a TON of good in it.  We just need to get back to the basics of appreciation and we need to stop making things so unnecessarily complicated.  I’m gonna say that again.  Get back to the BASICS of APPRECIATION.  If you don’t know what that means, I’ll give you an idea.  Enjoy what you have and don’t dwell on what you lack.  Learn from the past, enjoy the present and plan carefully for the future.
