5 Simple and Easy Ways To De Stress Your Home

August 14, 2009

Have you ever gone to a friend, colleague or significant other’s home and noticed the tranquility or level of comfort that you feel? Is this lacking in your home? Do you feel a certain amount of stress or discomfort when you’re at your home and can’t figure out why?

It could be that you need to de-stress your home environment. Whether you have children, work at home or have some tension with a loved one you live with, it is possible to turn your place of rest into the sanctuary that you’ve always wanted. Try these for starters.

Go green- Not the “environmental” green (although that would helpful too…in fact make that number 6!), but add some plant life and natural elements to your living space. Now there are many different types fo plant life in the world and I could suggest a few, but I find that the best thing for YOU as the individual to do is go to a green house, Home Depot or Lowe’s nursery and see what your drawn to. Plant life gives energy and different people need different kinds of energy.

Fill your home with positive reinforcement- Pictures of family and friends are always great for this suggestion, but try some artwork, jazz or calming sound cd’s to really give your home that tranquile feeling that you need at the end of a long day.

Get rid of the clutter- I can’t endorse this enough. Pick a weekend to get rid of a lot of things that have no meaning. Old shoes, clothes and toys can not only free up space in your home, but they can also bring joy to another persons life who might need them.

Make a room just for YOU- This really can come in handy if you have children or a living situation with a lot of people. Set aside a room that is Strictly for comfort and tranquility with no acceptions to the rule. Make this your sanctuary.

Try some relaxing colors- Blue, green, maroon, burgundy and coral can provide excellent feelings of relaxation and coziness to your environment. Try them out. You can always paint over them.

De-stressing your home can work wonders for your wellness and improve your mental and physical health. If you have any special ways that you keep your home stress free, I would love to here about them. Let me know and enjoy your wellness.
